My current presentation is outlined below; more to follow soon. My regular fee is $500 plus expenses, but I've been known to negotiate. Meanwhile, visit my Presentation Blog for news and notes about where I've been and where I'm going.

Everybody's talking about “Viral Communication” nowadays. They have tips, they have tricks, they have dos and don’ts. They have techniques and rules and suggestions for ways to make information more infectious. What they don’t have is the answer to one question: why?

Why does information sometimes seem to behave like a virus? Why does everybody start using the word “blog” all of a sudden? Why do children say the darndest things? Why do we even say the word “darndest”? What is it that makes us hear something or read something, and then tell someone else what we heard or read?

Well, I take the long way around these questions and more in (r)evolutionary marketing: Marketing Meets the Science of the Meme, a thought-provoking, paradigm-shifting presentation about the nature of information and how it evolves and spreads from person to person, often like a virus. But not always.

(r)evolutionary marketing begins as an introduction to Memetics, a scientific theory that seeks to explain how human cultures evolve (i.e. develop and change) via the spread of information. It then applies the science of memetics to the practice of advertising, a major contributor to the development of consumer culture. (Runtime: 30-40 min.)
